Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to debut on May 23, but live
spy shots of the phone already started surfacing on the Chinese social network
Weibo. Two different users posted pictures of the upcoming flagship, revealing
that it be quite similar to the iPhone X with a notch and a vertical dual
camera setup.
There is MIUI 9 8.5.2 on board, but it is most likely the beta version
from May 2. And if you think the front camera cutout is a mock, there is also
an overexposed photo that reveals the setup is indeed real.
Xiaomi Mi 7 will have Snapdragon 845, that much was
confirmed by Lei Jun promised back in December. The phone is said to have 6 GB
RAM and 128 GB storage, but we are yet to see if this will a premium version
with a more affordable one with less memory, just like the Mi 6.
There is also a chance that we'll see an even more
powerful version with 8 GB RAM, similar to the Mi Mix 2S configuration. And we
don’t mention the phablet by accident - you can see it positioned next to the
alleged Mi 7 in some Gold variation.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 will have
a wide notch that will make room for selfie camera, a earpiece, the proximity
sensor and probably even some facial recognition hardware. While this images
seem real enough, there's always that chance that it ends up just another
knock-off device with the trendy frontal feature. We'll be able to tell once we
see more solid evidence one way or another.
