Cool-looking wireless headphones called TicPods Free
were launched yesterday at the IF2018 Geek Park Conference in China. CEO of the
company, Li Zhifei, delivered a keynote at the conference and also launched the
AirPod-like accessory. Apple’s AirPods are apparently some of the most popular
wireless headphones around and the TicPods Free look very similar in and cost
499 Yuan. They’re to be available in three colours: Classical White, Rock Blue,
Jazz Red.
As for stand out features, they come with some
noteworthy features like “in-ear monitoring”. This is similar to AirPods as it
detects when the headphones are connected and starts playing and stops when
disconnected. The wireless TicPods also come with 92 db SPL speakers as well as
CVC noise cancellation technology for clear sound.
For easy interaction, they come with touch controls.
Users can control audio for example with touches and taps and swipes on the
outer stripe area. It also supports multiple voice assistants such as Apple
Siri and Google Assistant as announced by the company at the conference. They
are also truly wireless as they support cross-device interconnection.
As for the battery life, the 85 mAh power pack
inside the accessory can play up to 4 hours of continuous playback. The
charging pod that comes with the accessory can charge the headphone four times
and it also has fast charge. As stated at the launch, a 15-minute fast charge
enables 85 minutes of playback.
The TicPods Free are price 499 Yuan (US$ 78) and
are up for pre-order on Jingdong Mall. Shipping starts January 24.
