iPhone owners and those with smartphones equipped
with Qi wireless charging technology may be interested in a new smart jacket
called the Snow-C which has been designed by a team of developers at The Waves.
The jacket is fitted with an integrated wireless charging system offering 15w
of wireless charging capacity via a slimline 3,000 MAh battery pack which is
capable of charging from flat to full in just 40 minutes.
The batteries have been specially located in the
smart jacket to not impede comfort, and its designers say you won’t feel, or be
bothered by them “touching the curves of your body”. The Snow-C smart jacket launched via
Kickstarter this week to raise the US$ 12,000 required to take the concept into
production.
The Snow-C smart jacket takes the form of a down
jacket equipped with a patent-pending wireless charging system that allows you
to forget about your smartphone battery life and enjoy your day. The jacket
design has been tested in heavy rain and freezing conditions below 32 degrees
and is suitable for outdoor activities such as snow, kayaking, hiking,
climbing, skiing, snowboarding and walking, as well as your everyday needs.
Internally the jacket is equipped with a 5v 3,000mAH ultra-thin, lightweight
power bank that is connected to a micro-USB cable and the charger. The energy
is then passed to the wireless charger, and it’s coils and immediately ready to
start charging your smartphone using magnetic flux technology.
The Snow-C smart jacket is now available to back
with early bird pledges starting from US$ 169, offering a considerable 32% saving
off the suggested retail price of US$ 249. Delivery is expected to take place
during September 2018 if all goes well.
