We have been hearing rumors for months that the
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus would be announced at Mobile World
Congress in February. This is different to what Samsung normally does, the
company previously launched their flagships at their own event later than MWC.
Samsung has now officially confirmed that they will
announce their Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones at MWC 2018 in
February. The news of a Mobile World Congress launch for the new flagships was
confirmed by Samsung’s DJ Koh who confirmed to ZDNet the launch of the handsets
is happening at MWC.
We have heard lots of different rumors about the new
Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus. The two handsets are said to have a
similar design to the S8 and S8 Plus. There will be two processor options, some
countries will get the Samsung Exynos 9810 and others will get the new Qualcomm
Snapdragon 845.
The handsets will come with 6GB of RAM and a range
of storage options from 64GB upwards, there may be a 512GB model as Samsung
recently launched their new 512GB of storage for smartphones. The Galaxy S9
will come with a single 12 megapixel camera and the S9 Plus will feature dual
12 megapixel cameras.
Both handsets will come with Android Oreo and
Samsung is introudcing improved facial recognition with the devices and a new
Iris scanner. They are also expected to come with a fingerprint scanner on the
back of the handsets. We will have more details about the new Samsung flagship
smartphones when they are announced at MWC next month.
