Intel RealSense Depth Cameras

Developers, hobbyists and electronic enthusiasts who would like to add 3D vision to their next project may be interested in two new realSense depth cameras unveiled by Intel this week in the form of the D415 and D435. Designed to add 3D vision technology to any prototype development or end-user ready device or machine the new cameras come equipped with a D400 depth module Intel RealSense vision processor D4. Enabling them to process complex depth data in real time.

Intel is also made available the cross-platform open-source Intel RealSense SDK 2.0, enabling the cameras to be used both indoors and outdoors in any lighting environment, explains Intel. The embedded vision processor uses 28nm technology and supports up to 5 MIPI Camera Serial Interface 2 connections to process real-time depth images and increase output performance.

Features of the new range of realSense depth cameras include image sensors capable of capturing disparity between images up to a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a dedicated colour image signal processor for image adjustments and scaling colour data, an active infrared projector to illuminate objects and enhance the depth data in any lighting condition.

Both the Intel RealSense D415 and D435 Depth Cameras are now available to preorder directly from the Intel online store priced at US$ 150 and US$ 179 respectively.
