After unveiling the new Google Clips camera last
year during October 2017, it seems that the new photographic and video
equipment designed by Google is moving closer to a worldwide launch and has
this week been spotted making its way through the FCC. Indicating that an
official launch may soon be happening even if it is in the US to start.
To recap the new Google Clips camera has been
specially designed to capture special moments without the need to be behind the
camera itself, allowing you to take part in the action. The camera captures
short motion photos that last several seconds, called “clips” hence the
camera’s name.
Google explains that the lightweight, hands-free
camera has been created to help you capture more “spontaneous moments” and can
be positioned almost anywhere, thanks to its integrated clip. As you would
expect Clips comes with its own companion smartphone application that allows
you to control the shutter if the shutter button on the camera is out of reach,
as well as view and share captured video clips and images.
Unfortunately, Google has not yet confirmed an
official release date or even expressed any release timeframe. But when it does
launch the Google Clip camera is expected to be priced at US$ 249 in the US. Clips
will support both iOS and Android devices, in the form of the Samsung S7 and 8
and on iPhone (6 and up).
