The Meizu M3X was launched last year in November,
but Meizu did not shed any light on whether it will have a successor or not. In
an online questionnaire that happened last week, Meizu’s Senior VP, Li Nan
revealed that the successor to the Meizu M3X will have flagship grade specs,
improving greatly upon its predecessor.
Meizu’s mBlu branch has been the talk of the town
for a while and there is a possibility that the successor would come under the
wing of the mBlu division. This year, Meizu chose to use Qualcomm chipsets in
their smartphones owing to MediaTek’s hiatus from the development of high-end
chips.
When we talk “flagship-grade”, Qualcomm does not
disappoint, and we might see the new M3X come with the Snapdragon 845. But Li
Nan also hinted that the new Meizu M3X might be priced up to 2,499 Yuan, about
800 Yuan higher than the old M3X’s 1699 Yuan price tag. At that price segment,
we might see a Snapdragon 600 series chip inside the new M3X.
Meizu is all set to unveil the 15 and 15 Plus in the
Spring of 2018 to celebrate their 15th anniversary. There is no other
information regarding the new M3X, but since it has now been revealed that a
successor is in works, it won’t be long before we see more news about it.
