Smartphones with thick bezels are gradually going
into extinction, even as the so-called bezel-free trend which was pioneered by
Xiaomi is gradually turning into an industry standard. Panasonic will be the
next OEM to hop on this so-called bezel-less trend, as it prepares to unveil a
new Panasonic Eluga C phone with a bezel-less display on November 29.
Panasonic confirmed that it will be unveiling a
full-screen phone later this month through an official teaser image which was
first reported by our friends at ePrice. While there are not much to report on
the expected specs of the device, the report did note that the Panasonic Eluga
C could feature a three-sided edge-to-edge display similar to Sharp’s Sharp Aquos smartphones.
Eluga C will have a notch
like that of the iPhone X and very few bezels on the top, while below the
display will be house to a physical home button embedded with the fingerprint
sensor, selfie camera and LED flash as found in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
The device will boot Android 7.0 Nougat
out-of-the-box, while Panasonic in-house Arbo AI assistant could also be
integrated. We’ll probably hear more about the upcoming device in the coming
days, otherwise, we just have to wait till it is made official.
