Archos is mostly known for its rather cheap Android
smartphones, as the French company didn't seem to be interested in the high-end
segment. The new Diamond Omega marks a premier for Archos since this is the
company's first true flagship smartphone.
The Diamond Omega is powered by a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with no less than 8GB RAM and 128GB internal
memory (no microSD slot included). Another major improvement over its previous
smartphones is the 5.73-inch display with Quad HD (2160 x 1080 pixels)
resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.
On the back, Archos' top-tier smartphone boasts a
dual-camera setup (23MP + 12MP cameras), while in the front there's another
dual-camera setup comprising of two 5-megapixel selfie snappers. The 3,100 mAh
battery powering the Diamond Omega should provide up to 5 hours of talk time,
and it can't be removed from the phone.
It's also worth mentioning the smartphone comes with
USB Type-C port with 3.5mm audio jack adapter, a rear-mounted fingerprint
sensor, and dual SIM support. Since this is rebranded ZTE Nubia Z17S, it runs
with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with NUBIA UI 5.0 on top.
Finally, Archos announced its Diamond Omega flagship
killer will be available for purchase in Europe for € 500. The smartphone will
be launched in both Black and Blue color variants.
