News about Alcatel's new lineup of smartphones
continues to pour in with just one week before their official unveiling. The
next device on the least of upcoming smartphones is the Alcatel Idol 5, which
was recently spotted at GFXBench with model number TCL 6058.
The Idol 5 is a mid-range smartphone that runs
Android 7.0 Nougat. Unfortunately, it's much more expensive than it should,
considering the rest of the specs. It appears that Alcatel Idol 5 will be
launched in Europe for around € 250 outright.
The phone is equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad-core
MediaTek MT6735 processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which can be further
expanded via microSD card. Alcatel Idol 5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with
full HD (1080p) resolution and packs a decent 2,800 mAh battery. A 16-megapixel
camera is positioned on the back side, alongside a fingerprint sensor. There's
also a secondary 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone should be announced in early
September at IFA, but it might not go on sale right away. It's also unclear
whether or not Alcatel will make it available in other regions.
