The action camera market might be seen to be
saturated by now, but there is always room for improvement — especially when
you have more and more young people who have more courage than common sense
performing tombstoning stunts all over the place. KODAK has just the action
camera for folks who would want to up the ante — the next generation KODAK
PIXPRO ORBIT360 4K VR Camera.
The KODAK PIXPRO ORBIT360 4K VR Camera comes across
as a compact, single-body design that will certainly address the fast growing
360° VR video consumer market. Sporting a rather minimalist style without
looking as though it hailed from the previous century, there will be a pair of
4K fixed focus lenses that are located on either side of this particular camera
body. Each of these lens will work together, capturing and stitching full 360°
4K video on its own. From there, as long as it is connected to the Internet, it
will upload these 360° photos and videos to Facebook, not to mention 360° interactive
videos to YouTube via the device’s smart app. In other words, it is close to
real time, offering a ‘delayed telecast’ of sorts after recording.
A pair of 20MP CMOS sensors will deliver the 4K
resolution that is in vogue these days, while a microSD memory card slot
provides users with up to 128GB of internal storage space. Connectivity options
on the ORBIT360 4K VR camera include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, and there is
even an optional remote control device thrown into the ecosystem which allows you
to wear or mount the camera for superior control. Expect to fork out US$ 499 for
the KODAK PIXPRO ORBIT360 4K VR Camera as it hits the market some time in Q1
2017.
