At June
12, there will be the Huawei Honor 9. A promo that landed on
Weibo a bit early confirms the key specs that we’ve seen in numerous leaks.
The star attraction will be the dual camera on the
back, 12MP + 20MP, similar to both the nova 2 and P10. We’ve seen a camera
sample, though it was too compressed to discuss quality. Anyway, the powerful
Kirin 960 chipset sets this handset apart from the mid-range nova and put it
closer to the premium P-series.
The Honor 9 is slightly better even, as one version
will feature 6GB of RAM (though a cheaper version with 4GB may also be
available; the P10 has 4GB).
The screen will have a 2.5D glass, but the promo
neglects to mention size and resolution. The rumor mill can fill that in -
5.15” 1080p. Further purported specs include an 8MP selfie cam (presumably, the
same as the P10, the nova 2 has a 20MP front cam). Also, a 3,100 mAh battery,
Android 7.0 Nougat and a price of around US$ 360 (which seems a bit low, that’s
the official price of the nova 2).
