ZTE is planning to
enter the smartwatch market. Evan Blass revealed information that upcomming ZTE Quartz would be running Android Wear 2.0. Also there were
some rumours, that device will be presented during MWC 2017, but there wasn’t
any ZTE wearable presented.
Upcoming ZTE’s watch has already passed FCC
certification in the U.S. and Bluetooth SIG certification. It means, the device
may be closer, than we think. The ZTE Quartz with code number ZW10 is expected
to feature 2G/3G connectivity, which means it will be a standalone device, that
won’t require smartphone to make calls.
The FCC certification confirms, that the watch would also support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n)
and Bluetooth v4.0. Unfortunately there is no information about NFC module,
which would allow to pay with the smartwatch.
The device will have
pin style charger on backside of the watch. What is more, we can notice, that
the device will have round display and one single button on side. ZTE Quartz will be entry-level device with great price, that will be
available in different color variants and supports iOS 8.2+ and Android 4.3+
phones.
