ASUS launched a
photography-centric smartphone at CES 2017 dubbed ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom. It boasts
a dual camera system with several technologies all aimed at improving photos
and videos as well as a massive 5000 mAh battery in a sleek 7.99 mm body.
A closer look at the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom’s dual
camera system shows that it’s composed of two 12 Megapixel cameras. One has
f/1.7 aperture, a Sony IMX262 image sensor, 2mm focal length and optical image
stabilization (OIS). The other camera has 2.3x optical zoom and a focal length
of 59mm for Portrait Mode with depth of field.
It also has second generation Laser Autofocus, dual
pixel Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), an RGB color correction sensor and
support for RAW. Sadly, there’s no LED flash for the 13 Megapixel front camera.
The screen can serve as the flash though.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom runs on a 2.0 GHz octa core
Snapdragon 625 processor from Qualcomm, up to 4GB of RAM and Android 6.0
Marshmallow OS. Its 5000 mAh battery can provide up to 48 hours of 3G talk time,
25 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing or 6.4 hours of 4K video recording! It can also
serve as a powerbank to other devices with 1A of current. There are 32GB, 64GB
and 128GB storage options but all three comes with a microSD card slot for up
to 2TB memory cards.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom has a 5.5 inch full HD
AMOLED display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer on top. For
connectivity, it has basic Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and 4G LTE. There’s also a
fingerprint sensor at the back of the device and a USB Type-C port at the
bottom.
ASUS hasn’t revealed the price of the ZenFone 3 Zoom
yet.
