Amazon Fire TV Stick
Amazon has announced its second-generation
Fire TV Stick. This streaming dongle comes with improved innards compared to
its predecessor, as well as a smaller initial price.
The new Fire TV Stick boasts a 1.3 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7
processor, the Mali-450MP4 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of built-in storage, support
for 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, as well as H.265 (HEVC) playback
capability. Its resolution still maxes out at 1080p, so no 4K here just yet.
The dongle comes with a voice control remote that's
powered by the Alexa digital assistant. The stick has universal search results
from over 90 channels and apps, and you can access "over 7,000 apps,
games, and Alexa skills including Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, YouTube, Amazon Video,
NBC, WatchESPN, Disney, and more".
The new Fire TV Stick is now up for pre-order,
priced at US$ 39.99. It will be out on October 20.
