Moto X Pure Edition
With rumors of the Motorola (Lenovo)
Moto G4 on the horizon, last year's Moto X Pure Edition is getting a welcome,
albeit temporary discount. From now through May 2nd, you can snag the device
from upward of $349.99, which is a $50 saving off the usual base retail price.
Though everybody has their own checklist
when it comes to deciding on a new smartphone, the Moto X Pure Edition ticks
three key boxes; it's a very nice handset with strong specs, it's good value
for money, and owners get a close-to-stock Android experience sans the usual
bolt-ons and bloatware.
If you look hard enough, you can
probably find the Moto X Pure online for the same price that Motorola is
currently charging. But by taking advantage of this official deal, you can use
the Moto Maker tool to completely customize your handset with different covers,
frames, engraving and even a tailored welcome message.
Packed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808
SoC and 3 GB of RAM, the device is IP 52 certified for splash and dust-proofing.
The 5.7-inch display is crisp at 1440 x 2560 pixels, though its size does mean
that the Moto X Pure is only for phablet fans. There's a 3000 mAh battery to
keep the lights on, and the strong, 21-megapixel rear-facing camera is allied
to a 5-megapixel sensor at the front.
Even though the device does include a
microSD expansion slot, you may find it worthwhile to bump native storage up to
32 GB. This will incur an extra US$ 50 charge, but it means that your US$ 399.99 will
get you double the usual allotted real estate.
An all-round great handset, we were
incredibly impressed with the Moto X Pure in our review. Our readers tend to
agree, having so far scored it a whopping 9.4/10 on average. If you're not too
fussed about purchasing a device from last year, you could do a great deal
worse for US$ 350.
