Acer TravelMate P648
The Taiwanese manufacturer has announced the world's first
business-oriented notebook with wireless standard Wi-Fi 802.11ad, also known as
WiGig. The data rate thus reaches 6.8 Gbit / s. The notebook Acer TravelMate
P648 uses one of the new chips Qualcomm Atheros triple aggregation of
frequencies that operates at frequencies of 2.4, 5 and 60 GHz.
It is worth noting that the lack of a
standard Wi-Fi 802.11ad when working at 60 GHz is a small range of the network.
This technology is suitable only for connection between devices within a single
room. This standard is intended to complement, but not replace existing ones.
For example, by connecting the display 802.11ad delay time is about 30 ms,
whereas the use 802.11ac the figure is 200 ms.
Acer TravelMate P648 runs on the
processor Intel Core i5 and i7 6th generation and is equipped with 14-inch
IPS-screen with a resolution up to Full HD, waterproof keyboard, enhanced
carbon fiber body weighing 1.7 kg and connector USB 3.1 Type-C. The device
offers a 4 GB DDR4, 1 TB hard drive or 512 GB SSD.
New products will be available from
April this year for US$ 799.99 in North America, € 999 - in the EMEA region, and
