Swipe Telecom, the
Indian smartphone manufacturer that had launched a few entry-level smartphones
and tablets has come up with a new device specially for kids. The company had
officially launched the Swipe Junior smartphone for the children ranging from
5-15 years. More than the specs, it comes with some unique features integrated
into the UI.
The device features SOS
button that can call the pre-defined number with a single touch. It also
includes geo-tracking and geo-fencing that will the track the location of the
kid and also notifies when a child crossed the pre-selected location with the
geo-fencing settings. The parents can control the device by blocking certain
apps or limiting the usage time for individual apps.
With such a useful
features, this device can be recommended for parents who looks to give their
kids a smartphone. Since we can expect regular drops from kids, the company
came up with shock and break protective casing for the Swipe Junior. The
connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB
port.
Coming to the
specifications, it sports a 4.5-inch IPS display and is powered by 1.3 GHz
dual-core processor. The device has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage
along with a MicroSD card slot. It still runs on the outdated Android 4.4
Kitkat out of the box. It support single SIM and lacks the 4G LTE connectivity.
The device is powered
by a 1,900 mAh battery that can give 8 hours of talk time and lasts up to 120
hours on standby. As of now the device is available in Pink and Blue colors and
is priced at Rs. 5,999. The device can
be purchased from all the leading online stores while Flipkart is offering
extra Rs. 1,000 discount making it a much sweeter deal. Few weeks back, the
company had launched the Swipe Elite 2 priced at Rs. 4,666 with 4G LTE
connectivity.
