Gionee Marathon M5


Gionee is going to launch their latest Marathon Series of the smartphone in India on November 24th as confirmed by the brand. The Marathon M5 is the successor to M4, which was launched in the country couple of months back. The M5 is considered as a big upgrade since the device packs a massive 6020 mAh capacity battery. 

It would not be as affordable as Marathon M4, which was priced at Rs 15,499 while the M5 in China costs 2299 RMB, which converts to around Rs 23,500. The Chinese mobile giant did a survey prior to working on this handset, and there they learnt that Android users want more battery life out of their phones.

The upcoming device from the company would be sporting a unique Dual batteries setup. And what’s more, astonishing is that even after putting dual batteries, the brand was able to manage the thickness of 8.5 mm, which is not bad at all. 

The company claims the device would last for about two days of heavy usage and about four days on average usage. Meanwhile, the large battery size isn’t enough, and thus there is a feature called smart power consumption management, which maximizes the output of the battery. Also, there is an extreme mode that would allow the device to last up to 62 hours on a 5% battery charge.

Talking about the specifications of the device, it sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The M5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6535 and have a graphics companion in the form of Mali-T720. There is a 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage available, which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card slot.

Running on Amigo OS 3.0, which is the custom OS of the company is based on the Android Lollipop 5.1. In terms of the cameras, the device packs 13-megapixel image sensor on the rear while the front facing camera is of 5-megapixel. The connectivity features includes 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A–GPS and other basic hosts of features.
