Fossil Q Founder smartwatch

Fossil is called a "lifestyle" brand, mostly because it is hard to decide exactly where it fits. The firm is known for its designs and trendy jewelry, which includes a line of watches. Back in October, the company unveiled the Fossil Q Founder. This is a new Android Wear smartwatch that is the result of a partnership between Fossil and Intel.

The Q Founder has been launched today, in time for the holiday shopping season. Priced at US$ 295, the timepiece can be purchased from Fossil's website which you can visit with a mere tap on the sourcelink. The smartwatch has a stainless steel build, and a stainless steel band. It pairs with a phone running Android 4.4 or higher, or the Apple iPhone 5/iOS 8 and later. The phone supports Bluetooth 4.1 LE connectivity. Despite sporting what appears to be a round dial, the screen employs the same "flat tire" design made infamous by the Motorola Moto 360.

With the Fossil Q Tracker, you can measure the number of steps you take, and track the number of calories you've burned through. The IP67 certification means that the device can be submerged in up to 3 feet of water for as long as 30 minutes, and escape unscathed. Thus, rain storms shouldn't be a problem for the timepiece. The watch comes with 4 GB of internal storage, and the 400 mAh battery lets you go as long as 24 hours between charges.

With its background in design, Fossil is calling the Q Founder a combination of good looks and functionality. If you'd rather check out the watch before buying it, Fossil does have a link on its site that will show you which retailers are carrying the device.
