Huawei's Watch 4 Pro was released last June, but now the company is refreshing it with a Space Exploration special edition, which has gone on pre-order in China today ahead of its release on April 12. It's priced at CNY 4,999 (US$ 691 or € 637). It's apparently inspired by the design of space-bound rockets, and it has a ceramic bezel and sapphire glass with a diamond-like coating - which should make it twice as stiff as other glass, thus it's better at resisting damage.
The watch comes with a titanium bracelet,
and it supports Ultra Wide Band (UWB). This can be used for no-touch access to
the Aito M9 car, co-developed by Huawei, which will unlock whenever the wearer
is within 8m of it. You can also control the car with your voice through the
watch, to open its windows or trunk, and check the car's status via the Aito
app on the watch. There's a special Aito watch face too, which can be
customized to one's liking.
The Watch 4 Pro Space Exploration edition
has an eSIM and lets you take calls without your smartphone being nearby. It
has 13 health indicators and a more precise health report than other
smartwatches, Huawei boasts. The watch has 5ATM/50m water resistance, it's 49.1mm
long and 12.9mm thick, and weighs 68g. The screen is a 1.5-inch 466x466 AMOLED.
It can pair with phones running Huawei's HarmonyOS 2.0 and above, Android 8.0
and above, and even iOS 13 and above. In normal mode, its battery life is
advertised as 4.5 days, whereas in the battery saver mode it can go up to 21
days.
