Chinese gaming handheld manufacturer GPD has officially launched the Win 4 2024, marking a significant stride in the evolution of handheld gaming devices. The launch is coming not too long after the launch of the Win Mini 2024. The company had previously launched successful products like the Win Max 2, and the Win 4 2023.
In terms of features, the Win 4 2024 stands as the second refresh since the introduction of the Ryzen 7040 series last year. Notably, GPD has chosen to harness the power of AMD’s cutting-edge Ryzen 8040 APUs. The design has some semblance to the popular Sony PlayStation Portable, giving a nostalgic touch to the device’s sleek and modern aesthetics.
At its core configuration, the Win 4 2024
boasts a formidable Ryzen 7 8840U APU, accompanied by a generous 32 GB of RAM
and a capacious 2 TB of storage. The base model is priced at an enticing US$ 984,
providing gamers with an affordable yet high-performance handheld solution.
For those seeking an even more immersive
gaming experience, GPD offers additional configurations. The company presents
the Win 4 2024 with optional G1 eGPU or G1 eGPU and OCuLink cable bundles,
priced at $1,630 and $1,672, respectively. These bundles promise to enhance
graphics capabilities, delivering a gaming experience that rivals traditional
gaming setups.
While the initial release is limited to
the Ryzen 7 8840U variant, GPD has responded to the community’s anticipation by
revealing plans for additional configurations. In approximately one month,
enthusiasts can expect alternative SKUs, including a version with the same APU
but an impressive 64 GB of RAM and a whopping 4 TB of storage.
Despite the exciting array of
configurations, GPD has left users eagerly awaiting the availability of cheaper
Ryzen 5 8640U variants. Although mentioned on the company’s website and
Indiegogo campaign page, the specific release date for these variants remains
undisclosed.
