Samsung just announced its flagship Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones at its Galaxy Unpacked event, as it had promised. The Galaxy S24 and S24+ pack a 6.2 inch FHD+ / 6.7″ Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O flat Displays with 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 2600 nits brightness.
These are powered by new Snapdragon 8 Gen
3 for Galaxy and Exynos 2400 depending on the market. The vapor chamber cooling
is now 1.5x bigger on both the models. The phones feature an in-display
Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner and run Android 14 with One UI 6.1, and will get
seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the
first time. The Galaxy S24 series get Galaxy AI that brings Live Translate,
two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls within the native
app, Interpreter feature, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and
gesture-driven Circle to Search.
The phones feature Armor Aluminum frame.
For the first time, Galaxy S24 features components made with recycled cobalt
and rare earth elements and is also the first Galaxy S series to be designed
with recycled steel and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). Additionally, every
Galaxy S24 comes in a packaging box made from 100% recycled paper material. The
phones feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, 12-megapixel Ultra Wide
Lens with a 120-degree field of view and a 10-megapixel Telephoto lens with 3x
optical zoom and OIS, and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera, same as the
predecessor. When recording videos, both front and rear cameras are equipped
with Dedicated ISP Block for noise reduction, and the Galaxy S24 analyzes gyro
information to distinguish between the filmer’s movement and the subject’s.
This allows more effective noise removal and clear videos in the dark, even
from far away, said Samsung. AI-powered camera features include Galaxy AI
editing tools, Edit Suggestions, Generative Edit, and new Instant Slow-mo.
Both the phones come with IP68 ratings for
dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S24 has a 4000mAh battery with support
for 25W fast charging and the Galaxy S24+ packs a 4900mAh battery with support
for 45W fast charging. Both the phones feature a wireless and reverse wireless
charging.
