Xiaomi is expected to announce two foldable phones in 2024. The Mix Fold 4 is expected to be released in the second half of the year, whereas in the first half, the company may unveil a flip-style foldable phone called the Xiaomi Mix Flip. A new leak that has surfaced on Weibo has disclosed the chipset that will be the powerhouse of the device.
According to a tipster from China, Xiaomi
has a couple of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered devices in the pipeline. The leak
reveals that apart from the Redmi K70, the upcoming tablet and small foldable
phone from the brand will also feature the said chipset.
The tablet that the leaker seems to be
talking about appears to be the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. A recent report claimed that
the Pad 7 Pro will arrive with a 144Hz LCD display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and
a square-shaped camera module like the Xiaomi 14 series. The small foldable
phone with an SD8G2 chip that the leaker is talking about seems to be the
Xiaomi Mix Flip.
At present, there is no information about
the other specifications of the Mix Flip. However, the above schematic suggests
that it will have a triple camera unit comprising a 3x telephoto zoom lens on
the back. An IMEI database listing of the device that emerged in September
revealed that its model number is 2311BPN23C. It is speculated that the Xiaomi
Mix Flip may launch with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in April 2024. It is also being
said that the first-generation Mix Flip may remain exclusive to the Chinese
market. In the home market, the device is expected to face competition from the
Honor Magic Flip and the Vivo X Flip 2, which are also expected in the first
half of 2024.
