Vivo invests a lot in the camera performance of its smartphones, but the iQOO flagships have been missing a proper telephoto camera with a periscope lens in front. According to Digital Chat Station, this will change in the iQOO 12 Pro, and there will be one with a 64 MP sensor behind. The leakster posted on their Weibo profile that vivo is working on a solution to put the OmniVision OV64B sensor behind the 5x zoom lens. It is also expected to bring a new 50 MP sensor for the main camera, again by OmniVision - the OV50H that is 1/1.28” in size with 1.2µm pixels.
There was no word on the ultra-wide-angle
camera, meaning it could be the very same 50 MP f/2.3 with massive 150-degree
FoV and autofocus seen in the last three top-tier iQOO Pro devices. The
upcoming iQOO flagship should also have the V3 ISP chip, the leakster added. We
expect to see it in the vivo X100 Pro series in early November, when the phones
launch with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, meaning the iQOO 12 Pro should follow in the
year's final months.
