Xiaomi Mix Fold 3

Last year, Xiaomi launched the world’s thinnest foldable phone with the Mix Fold 2 and a year later Xiaomi is bringing the Mix Fold 3 as a worthy sequel with upgrades across the board. Starting with the profile, Mix Fold 3 is even slimmer than its predecessor measuring just 5.26mm in its unfolded state and 10.89mm when folded. Xiaomi engineers designed a new vertically stacked motherboard which helped bring the phone's size down.

Xiaomi also developed an all-new proprietary hinge that consists of 198 components and takes up 17% less internal space. The new hinge comes with a 3-element structure and 14 micro-hinges that tuck in the main folding display for improved durability and a carbon ceramic steel rotating mechanism. Mix Fold 3’s new hinge also supports a 45°- 135° hover opening which allows you to prop the phone like a mini laptop.

Mix Fold 3 has dual E6 OLED displays. The main 8.03-inch LTPO panel brings a 1,960 x 2,160px resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The panel features Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and brings HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. The outer 6.56-inch LTPO OLED display is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and brings up to 2,560 nits peak brightness in auto mode. Moving on to the cameras, Xiaomi equipped Mix Fold 3 with a quad camera system with Leica optics. There’s a 50MP Sony IMX800 main cam (23mm equivalent) with OIS as well as a 12MP ultrawide module (15mm equivalent). Zoom shots are handled by a 10MP telephoto (75mm) with 3x zoom and a 10MP periscope module (115mm) which brings up to 5x optical zoom. Both telephoto modules feature OIS.

Under the hood, Mix Fold 3 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Mix Fold 3 gains a larger 4,800 mAh battery with the same 67W wired charging as Mix Fold 2 but with added 50W wireless charging. The software side is covered by MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 comes in glass and composite fiber back versions with prices being the same regardless of the material choice.

Pre-orders in China are open starting today while official sales are set to begin on August 16. Xiaomi did not mention any availability details for international markets.
