In India, Sony has launched the ECM-M1, a shotgun microphone that features eight distinct audio recording modes. It incorporates advanced beamforming and digital processing technology with 4 microphone capsules, enabling versatile stereo recording. The ultra-directional mode captures targeted sound from the front (within a 30-degree width) while suppressing other noises, making it ideal for interviews and selfie-oriented scenarios. The ECM-M1 boasts a mode dial with a locking mechanism, enabling secure and effortless sound pickup mode switching.
It incorporates noise reduction tools such
as noise cut and low-cut filters, implemented through digital signal
processing, ensuring high audio quality during recording and reducing the need
for extensive post-processing. Additionally, it supports 4-channel recording
(compatible cameras only), allowing omnidirectional safety recording on
channels 3 and 4, while channels 1 and 2 focus on selected directivity.
With eight audio recording modes, including
super-directional, unidirectional, omnidirectional, super-directional (front +
rear), super-directional (rear), super-directional (front/rear) separate,
ultra-directional, and stereo, users can easily select the desired mode using
the dial on the rear, with a lock button to prevent accidental changes.
The ECM-M1 utilizes beamforming technology
with four microphone capsules and precision algorithms to achieve exceptional
sensitivity in desired directions while reducing it in others, resulting in a
compact and versatile microphone that excels in challenging audio environments.
Designed for mobility, the ECM-M1 is compact and lightweight, easily clipping
into the Multi Interface Shoe of compatible cameras for direct power and audio
connections, eliminating the need for extra cables or batteries.
When connected via the Multi Interface
Shoe of a compatible camera with a built-in digital audio interface, the
microphone preserves audio quality by keeping the signal in digital form.
Moreover, it offers compatibility with a wide range of cameras using an analog
interface.
