Nothing likes to play the teaser game to perfection and the hype surrounding the Phone (2) has been through the roof in the past few months. The Phone (2) is now official and it brings improvements across the board compared to its predecessor. Phone (2) may seem identical to Phone (1) but the new device features a rounded back making it more comfortable to handle. The Glyph interface received an update as well and now comprises of 11 segmented LED strips with 33 total LED lighting zones. It offers new use cases for notifications such as volume control and timer indicators.
You can assign specific apps to the top
left LED for Essential Glyph notifications which will stay lit until you clear
the notification from your notification menu. Nothing is also opening up its
Glyph interface SDK and API to developers so we’ll likely see even more clever
use cases down the road. Nothing went with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with
FHD+ resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate. The punch hole cutout is now
centered and features a 32MP front-facing camera with a Sony IMX615 sensor and
support for 1080p video recording at 60fps.
The main camera on the back now features a
Sony IMX890 sensor (50MP) with OIS and EIS image stabilization and updated HDR
and Motion Capture modes. The 50MP ultrawide cam uses the same Samsung JN1
sensor as its predecessor but also gets Advanced HDR capabilities. There’s a
Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 chipset at the helm with Phone (2) which replaces the SD
778G+ on the Phone (1). The battery is now 4,700 mAh and wired charging speeds
are bumped up to 45W while wireless charging remains at 15W. The software front
is covered by Nothing OS 2.0 based on Android 13 which adds new widgets, theme
colors, folder layouts and illustrated covers.
Nothing Phone (2) comes in white and dark
grey colors and starts at US$ 599/£ 579/€ 679 for the 8/128GB trim. There’s a
12/256GB variant going for US$ 699/£ 629/€ 729 while the top of the line 12/512GB
model is set at US$ 799/£ 699/€ 849. Pre-orders start today while open sales are
