Google has introduced a special edition of its recently launched Pixel Fold smartphone to honor the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. This exclusive version, named the “Hip Hop 50” edition, features a sleek Obsidian color scheme with metallic accents on the sides and the camera bar. Additionally, it proudly displays an emblem representing the milestone on the camera bar.
However, unlike other devices, the “Hip
Hop 50” Pixel Fold will not be available for purchase. Instead, Google has
opted to distribute it exclusively through its #GiftFromGoogle program to a
select group of individuals. The presentation of this limited edition is truly
remarkable, as Google has packaged the phone within a custom suitcase record
player crafted by Victrola.
Accompanying the Pixel Fold in this
special set are the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro, along with custom “It’s All
G” bling designed by Simone I. Smith and a vinyl box set from Mass Appeal
containing five 45 RPM records. Nestled beneath these items, recipients will
find a fully functional Victrola player to enjoy the vinyl records included in
the package.
The “Hip Hop 50” edition Pixel Fold is a
testament to Google’s commitment to celebrating hip-hop culture. In 2017, the
company showcased its dedication by featuring an interactive Doodle on its
homepage for the 44th anniversary of hip-hop. The Doodle allowed users to
experiment with mixing and scratching records, providing an engaging experience
that can still be accessed on the Google Doodle blog.
