The Lenovo Smart Paper e-note has been released in the Netherlands and the UK. The Lenovo Smart Paper was first showcased at CES 2023 but a global release is yet to happen. The product is available in the two European markets and is only orderable by residents of these two countries. Lenovo had promised a Spring release for the Smart Paper and there had been multiple listings of the products in the US and Canada. However, these listings have now been taken down and availability is tied only to the UK and the Netherlands. Lenovo has omitted any shipping options for the model.
The Lenovo Smart Paper is a rebranded
version of the Lenovo Yoga Paper from 2022. The Lenovo Yoga was originally
released in China and the new Smart Paper supports more languages than the
Yoga. The Smart Paper has a 10.3-inch E INK Carta HD e-paper screen with a
resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels and 227ppi. The Lenovo Smart Paper can be used
comfortably to read in dark or dimly lit environments, thanks to its front light.
You can also turn off the light and use ambient light for reading content. The
tablet has a cover that puts the device in sleep mode whenever the screen is
covered.
The Smart Paper is powered by the Rockchip
RK3566 processor with a 4GB/ 64GB configuration. It supports Bluetooth 5.2
connectivity and a USB-C port is also available for data transfer. Its 3,500mAh
battery can last for up to 10 weeks and optical character recognition (OCR) is
supported. The Lenovo Smart Paper’s matte screen layer enhances the writing
experience with its non-slippery surface. The stylus of the device is highly
responsive with 23ms latency. Lenovo says the stylus offers a silky-smooth
writing experience and it has 4,095 degrees of pressure sensitivity. The Lenovo
Smart Paper e-note’s screen supports palm rejection technology.
It is unclear whether the Lenovo Smart
Paper will support app installation via an app store or other means. This
feature was lacking in the Lenovo Yoga. It was impossible to sideload apps and
photos on the Lenovo Yoga. It is also unclear whether this drawback is also
present in the new Smart Paper e-note. The Lenovo Smart Paper starts at € 499
(US$ 536) and £ 450 (US$ 562) in the Netherlands and the UK respectively.
