The vivo S17e silently appeared for sale on the company's website today. The full S17 lineup is yet to be announced, but reports are the launch will officially take place in exactly one week, on May 31. The new smartphone has a flagship-tier screen but a mid-range Dimensity 7200 chipset, as well as two cameras, only one of them usable on its own.
The front of the vivo S17e is all about
the 10-bit 6.78” AMOLED with 1080p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It has
curved sides and a fingerprint scanner underneath, while the top has a punch
hole for the 16 MP selfie camera. The back brings a 64 MP main camera and a 2
MP auxiliary shooter that assists the background blur in portrait shots.
The phone has a 4,600 mAh battery that
supports 66W charging through the USB-C port on the bottom. It runs OriginOS 3
on top of Android 13 and supports Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity. The vivo S17e is
offered in three colors - Gold, Blue, and Black, the former two having a neat
sand design developed by new three-layer coating technology. The phone is
already up for sale. The 8/128 GB memory configuration is CNY 2,099 (US$ 300/€ 275),
the 8/256 GB choice is CNY 2,299 (US$ 325/€ 300), while the 12/256 GB version is
CNY 2,499 (US$ 355/€ 330).
The e phones from the S series rarely
escape China, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for the S17 and S17 Pro that are
likely going international as a part of the V family.
