The eighth iteration in the Xiaomi Band series brings retains the 1.62 inches AMOLED pill-shaped screen of its predecessor with 490 x 192px resolution a 60Hz refresh rate. Band 8 also brings Always on Display support and a 600 nits peak brightness compared to 500 nits on Band 7. Band 8 comes with plenty of official strap options from Xiaomi including all sorts of materials such as leather, nylon fabric and metal in various styles. Xiaomi is also offering a pendant accessory as well as a clip that can be attached to your shoes for more advanced tracking and posture monitoring.
The wearable is still 5ATM waterproof and
weighs 27 grams. The health tracking sensors remain unchanged with a heart rate
monitor, blood oxygen level tracker as well as sleep and stress tracking. You
get the same core set of fitness tracking but with the added benefit of
interactive fitness courses that leverage Band 8’s accelerometer to help track
your movements in real time. These courses will be offered on Xiaomi’s Mi
Fitness app with the walkthroughs showing up on your phone or tablet.
Xiaomi is boasting longer battery life
with 16 days with typical usage and 6 days with AOD mode on. Band 8 also gets a
new two-pin charger which promises a full charge of the 190 mAh battery in one
hour. Xiaomi band 8 pricing is set at CNY 249 (US$ 40) and CNY 299 (US$ 43) for the NFC version. International pricing and availability were not
detailed.
