The vivo X Fold2 was said to arrive this month, and today the launch date was officially confirmed - April 20. That’s when we’ll also see the company’s first clamshell foldable, the vivo X Flip, and the new vivo Pad 2 tablet. The event in China will be all about flagship performance and big screens, said Huang Tao, VP at vivo. Teasers said there will be some sort of “3D imaging technology” which we assume will be similar to what ZTE demoed at MWC back in February with its ZTE nubia Pad 3D.
The vivo X Fold2 is expected to have a
8.03” foldable E6 AMOLED on the inside and a 6.53” E6 AMOLED on the
outside/cover. Both will have a fingerprint scanner underneath, while a
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will handle computing. Rumors about the X Flip were
more scarce - we heard it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and
paxk a 32MP selfie camera inside a punch hole. The main camera on the back
should be a 50MP shooter with a Sony IMX866 sensor, Zeiss T* coating and OIS.
The vivo Pad 2 is expected to be a bigger
version of the vivo Pad with a 12.1” LCD and will also be powerful thanks to a
Dimensity 9000 chipset. Reports are it will have a massive 10,000 mAh cell,
which should do wonders for battery life.
Pricing and availability for the Chinese
market will also be unveiled during the event, but we don’t believe there will
be any mention of the international scene. We even believe none of these phones
are escaping the home country, although we would love to be surprised.
