Sony introduced its latest wireless earbuds today with the WF-C700N alongside a new Midnight Blue colorway for its flagship noise-canceling WH-1000XM5 over-the-ear headphones.
The new TWS offering brings active noise
cancelation with adaptive sound control that tailors the noise cancelation
based on your activity. The buds will automatically switch to ambient mode when
they sense you’re walking or waiting at a bus stop so that you can hear
announcements and will then resume blocking your surrounding noise when you’re
on the bus.
Each WF-C700N earbud weighs just 4.6
grams, and they pair over Bluetooth 5.2 with support for the SBC and AAC audio
codecs. Sony promises multi-point pairing with a future software update expected
to arrive later this summer. The new buds also bring 360 Reality Audio spatial
audio, DSEE sound upscaling and equalizer fine-tuning via the Headphones
Connect app. You get physical buttons on each bud that offer programmable
single, double and hold taps.
The buds promise 7.5 hours of playback
with ANC on and 10 hours with ANC off. The 300 mAh battery case extends these
numbers to 15 hours with ANC on and 20 hours with it off.
Sony WF-C700N comes in black, white,
lavender and sage green colors. Pricing in Europe is set at € 120/US$ 120/£ 100 with
open sales starting on April 5.
