The iQOO Z7 shares some similarities with the Z6 Pro (despite the naming), though it’s not a true successor. It is powered by the Snapdragon 782G, Qualcomm’s replacement for the 778G(+), which is what the Z6 Pro was using (the vanilla Z6 used the SD 695 instead.
Here it is paired with 8 or 12GB of RAM
(LPDDR4X) and 128/256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Unlike the vanilla Z6, storage is
not expandable. This phone (and the the other Z7 models) are launching with
Android 13 and (in China, at least) OriginOS 13. This supports virtual RAM up
to 8GB. Another major upgrade this generation is the 5,000mAh battery, which
now supports 120W fast charging (up from 5,000mAh/18W on the Z6, 4,700mAh/66W
on the Z6 Pro). The company says that 5 minutes of charging are enough for 5
hours of streaming video, a fully charger battery will last around 16 and a
half hours of streaming.
The Z7 has a bigger screen than both its
predecessors, a 6.64” in diagonal, and it is an LCD (1,080 x 2,388px, 19.9:9).
It has 120Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10 with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3
color space. The camera on the rear is pretty basic, a single 64MP module
(f/1.8 lens with OIS), plus a 2MP depth sensor. There is no ultra wide here.
The front-facing camera features a 16MP sensor. Both face unlock and a
side-mounted fingerprint reader are available.
The Z7 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, plus
Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive and LDAC support. The phone is certified for
Hi-Res Audio (both wired and wireless).
