Canon EOS R8 and R50


Canon Marketing Philippines has introduced two new cameras to its R series lineup that include the EOS R8 and R50 which should impress enthusiasts. At Canon Marketing Philippine's Create with Canon and Beyond event, the Japanese manufacturer introduced several new printers and two new mirrorless cameras.

The first of the two is the new Canon EOS R50. At the core of the new camera is the 24.2MP APS-C CMOS with the Digic X processor. It has an ISO range of 100-32000 and a shutter speed range of 30 seconds to 1/4000 second. It can capture images up to 12 fps bursts.  At the back are the 2.36 Million-dot Electronic viewfinder and the 3-inch fully-articulating touch screen.

The R50 can record up to 3840 x 2160 at 30fps video. It uses the LP-E17 battery and it charges via the USB-C 3.2 port. It measures 116 x 86 x 69 mm and weighs 375 grams. Next up is the Canon EOS R8 which is equipped with a 24.2MP CMOS sensor with a Digic X processor. This allows it to capture images at up to 6 fps while offering an ISO range of 100-102400 and a shutter speed range of 30 seconds to 1/4000 second.

At the back of the EOS R8 is a 2.36 Million dot Electronic Viewfinder. Below it is the 1.62 Million-dot 3-inch Fully articulating touch screen. Like the EOS R50, it uses the LP-E17 battery and charges via USB-C 3.2. The full-frame camera measures 133 x 86 x 70mm and weighs 461 grams.

Canon EOS R50 customers will get a FREE 64GB SD card while customers of the EOS R8 will get a Free 128GB SD card and a free Lens Loan Voucher worth PHP 5,000. The EOS R50 will be available at Canon authorized distributors this early April while the bigger EOS R8 will be available for purchase in mid-April 2023.
