itel unveiled the A60, its most cost-effective 4G smartphone, according to the company’s own words. It has partnered with 9 carriers in 17 African countries to launch the phone, which will be available in India as well. The itel A60 is an Android 12 Go Edition phone that prides itself most with its 6.6” IPS LCD display, which has 720 x 1,612px resolution (20:9). The screen runs at 60Hz and has 120Hz touch sampling rate. Notched into it is the 5MP selfie camera.
On the back, there is an 8MP main camera –
also on its island are a depth sensor and the fingerprint reader. Both the
reader and the selfie cam can be used for secure unlocks. The Go Edition
software runs on a Unisoc SC9832E, a basic 28nm chipset with four Cortex-A53
cores and a Mali-G820 MP1 GPU. It is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage,
plus a microSD slot that can accept cards up to 128GB.
Inside the phone is a large 5,000mAh
battery, which promises up to 8 hours of web browsing or nearly as much of
watching videos. The phone uses an outdated microUSB port, the other wired is a
3.5mm jack on top. For colors, you can choose between Blue, Green and Black.
One last thing to talk about – price. The itel A60 is available on the
company’s Indian site with a price tag of ₹ 6,000. We also found it in a store
in Ghana for GHS 774 and in Nigeria for NGN 48,350.
This is just a sampling, the A60 can be
found on MTN, Orange, Airtel, Vodafone, AirtelTigo, Moov Africa, Telma and
Movicel across multiple countries. Note that the price should include 1 free
screen replacement for the first 100 days after purchase. A free SIM card with
