Amazon has launched Echo Dot (5th Gen) in India, as the successor to the 4th Gen model, which was launched back in 2020. Amazon says that this is its best sound Echo Dot yet, offering deeper bass and clearer vocals than all previous generations.
This also has in-built motion detection
and temperature sensors, so it can automatically turn on a light when you enter
the room or switch on the AC when it gets hot. Similar to other models, there
is a mic off button for privacy. The new Echo comes with a 1.73″ front-firing
speaker, compared to 1.6-inch in the predecessor. It retrains the spherical
shape with a circular ring of LED on the bottom, similar to the predecessor.
This is housed within the same fabric finish exterior, producing crisp vocals
and balanced bass. However, this doesn’t have a 3.5 mm line out.
There is Dual-band Wi-Fi support,
Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh, and Matter controller (Alexa Android app setup only.
iOS coming soon). As usual, you can pause or resume music, snooze alarms,
dismiss timers with just a tap. You can also use the Echo Dot as a standalone
speaker or pair your phone to use it as a Bluetooth speaker.
The Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) comes in
Black, Blue and White colours and is priced at Rs. 5,499 (MRP), but it is
available from Amazon.in for Rs. 4,999 as a part of launch offer.
