Sonos, the company known for making premium speakers and soundbars, is gearing up to launch a new generation of smart speakers, which are expected to go official in the coming months. According to the report from The Verge, the two upcoming smart speakers, named Sonos Era 300 and Sonos Era 100 will get launched in the coming months, but the exact launch date is yet known.
The speakers were previously leaked under
the codename Optimo and are expected to rival Apple HomePod and other similar
smart speakers from brands like Google and Amazon. The report adds that both
speakers will come with a completely new design compared to the current
products from Sonos. It is also said that the Era 300 will come with support
for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
A few months ago, it was reported that
Sonos plans to revamp its lineup of products with the launch of several new
speakers under a new series. The premium offering in the new lineup, Era 300,
which has the codename Optimo 2, will be a multidirectional speaker. It will
feature a completely rearchitected acoustic design and will offer the richest
fidelity of any single speaker that Sonos has ever released.
The speaker is also expected to come with
a USB-C port, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity support, and Bluetooth playback. All
speakers in the Era lineup will support automatic tuning and sound
optimization. Do note that the features were explored during the development
stage, and the final list of features may be different.
