Redmi India's Twitter account has recently been very busy talking up the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Both of them, it was confirmed yesterday, will be launching in India on January 5. But there's also an entry-level model, which was announced alongside those two in China back in October.
We're talking of course about the Redmi
Note 12, and up until now it was unclear whether it would make the journey from
China to India alongside its siblings. The good news is that it will. And while
it may not get a lot of airtime on Twitter, Redmi has created an entire teaser
microsite for its launch in India, which you can access here.
It focuses on a few key traits of the
upcoming device, chief among which is the 5G support. The AMOLED screen gets a
shoutout too, including a hint that it will be brighter than what we've seen in
past Redmi Note non-Pros. A Snapdragon chipset is also teased, along with
support for 33W wired charging and a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 48
MP sensor.
Spoiler alert, however - the Redmi Note 12
is already official in China. So while Redmi India pretends it will announce an
entirely new device, it looks like it's going to be the exact same model this
time around.
The Redmi Note 12 launched in
China has a 6.67" 1080x2400 AMOLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and
1,200 nit peak brightness, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC at the helm, 4/6/8GB of
RAM, 128/256GB of storage, a 48 MP main camera indeed, a 2 MP depth sensor, an
8 MP selfie snapper, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It runs Android 12 with MIUI 13
on top.
