Dyson Zone has been officially announced. This is a hybrid device combining over-the-ear noise-canceling headphones and an air purifier mask.
The Dyson Zone is a pair of over-the-ear
headphones that come with contactless air purifier visors to deliver clean air
to the nose and mouth. Contactless? Yes, because it won't make direct contact
with your face at all. It will have a dual-layer filtration design with
potassium-enriched carbon to capture acidic gasses like nitrogen dioxide,
sulfur dioxide, and ozone.
For the audio part, the headphones feature
custom 16ohm, 40mm neodymium drivers that promise a wide sound stage with clear
separation and detail. It also has 8 microphones to make sure it provides
high-end active noise cancellation. It is touted to be able to drown up to 38db
of noise.
The Dyson Zone will have a 2,600mAh
battery with up to 50 hours of battery with ANC on. For battery efficiency, it
will also have an option automatically turn on/off ANC. With the air purifier
on, the battery life is up to 4 hours of straight usage on a single charge. To
customize settings, it is compatible with MyDyson app and features three audio
EQ settings namely Dyson EQ, Bass Boost, and Neutral. It also supports SBC,
AAC, and LHDC via Bluetooth 5.0.
Dyson Zone priced at USD 949. The Dyson
Zone will be available in Ultra Blue/Prussian Blue and Prussian Blue/Bright
Copper color combos. However, the latter is only available directly from Dyson
and it comes with a second electrostatic carbon filter, a soft pouch, and an
inflight adaptor kit.
The exact availability was not yet
revealed but it is expected to hit the market by 2023.
