Samsung teased its collaboration with Parisian haute couture house Maison Margiela last month for a special edition Galaxy Z Flip4, which has been officially unveiled as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela Edition. Samsung says that "in the spirit of nonconformity," it partnered with Maison Margiela to "reimagine the newest member of the Galaxy family," and every element of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela Edition focuses on Margiela's originality and values. And you can see Maison Margiela's iconic design philosophy extending from the phone to the UX, accessories, and packaging.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela
Edition comes in white color with a matte finish "weaved" into the smartphone.
It also embraces the French couture house's décortiqué technique, which strips
back an object's outer layers to expose its core that features fine,
translucent lines to signify the smartphone's internal circuits. Additionally,
the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Maison Margiela Edition flaunts a matte silver white
frame for "perfect balance with the white" of the limited edition
smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Maison Margiela
Edition also comes with a new UX design, which includes tailor-made icons and
wallpaper artworks. Margiela's design elements also extend to the phone's
accessories and packaging.
The limited edition smartphone comes in a
box that reveals the phone's shape. It includes two phone cases. One is a
leather case that reflects Maison Margiela's bianchetto technique. It features
a white canvas and its four stitches emblem that signifies anonymity. Samsung
says the case is overpainted to create a unique texture to act like a canvas,
which could change over time. The second case uses Maison Margiela's iconic
numeric coding ring, which is reimagined as a ring holder.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela
Edition will be available in Hong Kong, France, and South Korea starting
December 1, but its price is unknown.
