Onyx BOOX is a known manufacturer of high-end E-ink tablets. The brand has now launched two new E-readers in the market, dubbed the Booxc Tab Ultra and Tab10, that offer large screens, stylus support & more. The BOOX Tab Ultra has a 10.3-inch touchscreen that offers a 1,404 x 1,872 pixels resolution at 227 PPI within a 225 x 184 x 6.7 mm chassis. The large screen in combination with the large 6,700mAh battery adds contributes to the 480 grams weight of the tablet.
Under the hood, the tablet features the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of
UFS 2.1 flash storage. It utilized an Android 11-based operating system and
comes with stylus support which is capable of recognizing up to 4,096 pressure
levels. Perhaps the most peculiar feature of the E-reader is the inclusion of a
camera array on the back.
Just like the Tab Ultra, the Tab10 also
offers a 10.3-inch display with a 1,404 x 1,872 pixels resolution and with 227
PPI pixel density. The only major difference between the two models is the
battery capacity, as the Tab10 ships with a smaller 6,300mAh battery.
Under the hood, there is an unspecified
Qualcomm chipset, which is paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS
flash storage. The device has storage expansion options in form of a microSD
card slot. It operates on Android 11, has stylus support with 4,096 pressure
level recognization, and a fingerprint reader within its power button. Other
than that, the Tab10 features support for a detachable keyboard case, a USB
Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band Wi-Fi.
Although Onyx BOOX has not yet begun
selling the Tab10 outside of China, the Tab Ultra is now on the market for
US$ 599.99. In China, the Tab10 costs CNY 3,580 (US$ 500) without the
purpose-built keyboard cover.
