Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is expanding on all frontiers and its latest push has seen the company launch the Mi Laser Ultra-Short Throw FHD Projector in the West African nation of Ghana. The Mi Laser Projector isn’t in any way a new product with the first Mi Laser Projector appearing in China in 2017. Since then, Xiaomi has released successive models bringing some improvements over their predecessors. The new laser projector launched in India features Android TV.
The Mi Laser Projector is an ultra-short
throw projector that can be placed between 5 and 50cm away from the wall. The
device is capable of producing an image up to 150 inches measured diagonally in
1080p resolution. Xiaomi promises up to 5,000 lumens of brightness and 3000:1
contrast. Picture quality is assured as a result of the use of advanced laser
fluorescence display technology (ALPD 3.0) and several other features. The Mi
Laser Ultra-Short Throw Projector is priced at Gh 14,239 (US$ 1770).
The launch of the Mi Laser projector in
Ghana is significant because it is the first time the Chinese brand would be
launching a non-smartphone product in the region. Xiaomi phones are selling
pretty well in West Africa, boosted by their superior quality over existing
brands such as Tecno and Infinix. The brand may soon become a market leader in
that segment if it boosts its promotion mechanism and perhaps works on offering
after-care services and open more Mi stores and experience centers in major
cities in the region. Xiaomi has got a rich catalog of Smart products that are
likely to sell extremely well if they are released.
