Xiaomi Book Pro 2022

Xiaomi unveiled a high-end laptop available in two sizes: 14” and 16”. Both feature high resolution OLED touchscreens, slender CNC-machined bodies, Intel processors and an Intel Evo certification, which is reserved only for the best ultrabooks. The laptops have E4 OLED displays that use 3D LUTs created by Xiaomi to achieve perfect color calibration (delta e around 0.33 for the 16” model, 0.43 for the 14” one). These are 10-bit panels with 100% coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces and Dolby Vision support. The panels are protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The 16” model has 4K resolution (283ppi) and a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification (peak brightness is 600 nits). The 14” one has 2.8K resolution (242ppi) and a DisplayHDR 500 certification. Both displays have 16:10 aspect ratios and 90% screen-to-body ratio. The Xiaomi Book Pro 2022 comes in four configurations. The base 16” model has a 12th generation Intel Core i5 and starts at CNY 6,500 (US$ 970/€ 930/₹ 76,700). The base 14” model also comes with an i5 and will cosy CNY 5,900 (US$ 880/€ 845/₹ 69,500).

If you need more processing power, there is also a 16” laptop with an Intel Core i7-1260P and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 for CNY 8,500. The 14” model has two GPU versions – i5+MX550 (CNY 6,500) and i7+RTX 2050 (CNY 8,000). The laptops go on pre-order in China today through several online retailers. The i7-1260P is a 12-core, 16-thread processor (4 performance, 8 efficiency cores) fabbed on the Intel 7 process. It is packed with 18MB of L3 cache and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7GHz. There are dual cooling fans with heat pipes that allow the processor to go up to 50W TDP.

The Intel processors are paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM (5,200MHz, dual channel) and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. They come with Windows 11 pre-installed and support gestures on the glass trackpad (which uses an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback). The backlit keyboard has 1.3mm key travel.

The 16” laptop weighs 1.8kg and has a 70Wh battery, enough for up to 12 hours of usage. The 14” model weighs in at 1.5kg. Both laptops support 100W charging over USB-C (Power Delivery 3.0) using a GaN adapter. The bodies measure 14.9mm thick (0.59”) and are made out of aviation-grade aluminum alloy, which has been sandblasted for a smooth finish.
