Xiaomi 12 Pro has been on the market for the past six months, and today the company reintroduced the device with a new chipset - a 4nm Dimensity 9000+ by Mediatek. Alongside the chipset switch Xiaomi also altered the camera setup and battery. The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity has a mighty CPU with one prime Cortex-X2 core at 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A710 performance cores and a quartet of Cortex-A510 efficiency units. The GPU is Mali-G710 MC10.
The 50MP F/1.9 main camera on the back is
carried over from the original Xiaomi 12 Pro, but the ultrawide and telephoto
shooters have been downgraded to 13MP and 5MP sensors, respectively. The
battery capacity has seen an increase to 5,160mAh, but the charging speed is
downgraded to 67W. This still feels like a better balance than what the
original 12 Pro had, though. The phone will ship with MIUI 13, based on Android
12.
When the Xiaomi 12 Pro arrived in
December, it was among the first phones on the market with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Now the Dimensity edition is the outright first with Mediatek's new top chip.
Unfortunately, the 12 Pro Dimensity Edition is highly unlikely to escape the
domestic market. Similarly, competitors Oppo and vivo launched versions of
their H1 flagships, the Find X5 Pro and X80 Pro, with Dimensity 9000 chips in
China, while global units are only available with a Qualcomm chip.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition is
available in two colors - Black and Blue. Pre-orders will begin tomorrow, July
5, at CNY 3,999 (US$ 600) for the 8/128 GB version and CNY 4,499 (US$ 670) for the
12/256 GB option.
