The vivo Y21 smartphone was launched in India back in August, and now, almost eight months later, it is getting a refresh. The company launched the vivo Y21G smartphone, which is a lot like its original Y21 with its 8mm profile, but with a slightly more powerful chipset and more attractive prices.
The vivo Y21G runs on a Helio G70 chipset
by Mediatek. It has an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A75 units, running at 2.0
GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores. The company is selling this smartphone with 4GB
RAM and 64GB storage and there is a dedicated microSD slot for expansion. The
rest of the specs are unchanged and in line with the other six devices in the
Y21 family - a 6.5” LCD with 720p resolution, 13MP + 2MP rear camera combo and
8MP selfie shooter.
A key feature of the whole lineup is the
5,000 mAh battery. It supports 18W charging, and vivo is providing the proper
adapter in the retail box. Accorgin to the press release the phone runs
FuntouchOS12, which is based on Android 12, but the vivo India website has the
phone listed with FuntouchOS 11.1, which has the previous-gen Android 11
underneath.
The phone is avаilable for INR 13,990
(US$ 185/€ 170) in two colors - Midnight Blue and Diamond Glow, which is a
Silver-ish paint job. Starting today, it can be purchased from mainland and
online channels.
