Sennheiser held a launch event in Mumbai, India, on April 19 to announce the TeamConnect Intelligent Speaker. It is an omnidirectional speaker intended for mid-sized Microsoft Teams Rooms (meetings) with up to 10 participants, whether present in the room or joined remotely.
The TeamConnect Intelligent Speaker
measures 128.3 x 56.3mm in dimensions and weighs 469 grams. It is equipped with
an omnidirectional neodymium speaker and 7 beamforming microphones on the top,
which covers a radius of 3.5cm. The topside of the device also features a
capacitive mute button, which allows click-free muting and unmuting during the
meeting. The LED ring available on the device can indicate whether the device
is on mute or unmuted.
In order to use it, users need to go carry
out a one-time installation process. Users need to establish a connection
between TeamConnect Intelligent Speaker and the Microsoft Teams Rooms console
using the bundled Power & Data box and a USB-C port. Users are also
required to connect a power cable to the Power & Data box. Once the initial
setup is done, it does not require other devices like a laptop or tablet for it
to work.
The bundled screw mount or adhesive pad
can be used to securely attach to the surface. The meeting can be controlled
through the console and hands-free using Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant.
The intelligent speaker can distinguish up to 10 different voices and assist in
creating a live transcript of the meeting. The Office 365 cloud securely stores
the transcripts of the meeting as text documents, which can be accessed later
for reference.
The TeamConnect Intelligent Speaker is
priced at Rs 49,990 (US$ 656) in India. It is available for Microsoft certified
conference rooms.
