After kicking off its K50 series with the Redmi K50 Gaming earlier this year, Xiaomi finally announced its Redmi K50 and K50 Pro phones. The pair share the same body and most of their key specs though the Pro has more impressive cameras, faster charging and a better chipset as well as up to 512GB of built-in storage.
Redmi K50 Pro boasts MediaTek’s Dimensity
9000 chipset fabbed on TSMC’s 4nm process and boasting ARM’s Cortex-X2 core
clocked at up to 3.05Ghz. The phone has a seven-layer vapor chamber cooling
system to keep thermals in check. Redmi K50 goes for a Dimensity 8100 chipset
which was announced earlier this month. Both K50 phones have 6.7-inch AMOLEDs
with QHD+ (3200 x 1440px) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panels are also
protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and both phones share the same 20MP Sony
IMX596 selfie cam sensor.
Redmi K50 Pro brings a 108MP main camera
with OIS - using a large Samsung 1/1.52-inch sensor. It’s accompanied by an 8MP
ultrawide snapper and a 2MP macro cam. Redmi K50 brings a 48MP Sony IMX 582
with OIS and the same 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cam. Both phones bring
Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, NFC and booth MIUI 13. Redmi K50 Pro gets a
5,000mAh battery with speedy 120W charging which should top up the battery from
0 1o 100% in just 19 minutes. K50 gets an even larger 5,500mAh battery with 67W
charging.
Redmi K50 series comes in four color
options with the black one featuring a nano-microcrystalline” back design with
sparkling ice-crystal elements. There are also green, silver and blue colors.
Redmi K50 Pro starts at CNY 2,999 (US$ 472) for its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage
trim. The 8/256GB version retails for CNY 3,299 (US$ 520) while the 12/512GB
variant will go for CNY 3,999 (US$ 630).
Redmi K50 starts at CNY 2,399 (US$ 378) for
the 8/128GB trim while the top-spec’d 12/256GB is CNY 2,799 (US$ 440).
