The ZTE brand nubia will launch the Z40 Pro smartphone on February 25, and it is going to be the first commercially available Android smartphone with magnetic charging. The feature was revealed in an official teaser on Weibo, followed by a short video, demoing the technology.
The Weibo account of nubia also posted an
image revealing the structure of the mechanism - it has an array of magnets
under the wireless charging coil, and there is also a plate to protect the rest
of the phone’s internals from any magnetic interference. The photo also reveals
the third shooter will be a periscope camera.
In the meantime, another ZTE phone popped
up on TENAA, and based on the specs, we think it is the Axon 40. It has a 64MP
main cam, 8MP ultrawide unit and a 5MP shooter for either depth data or macro
shots. The CPU frequency is 3.2 GHz, which matches the Snapdragon 870 chip. Storage
has four options (128/256/512 GB/1 TB), as does RAM (6/8/12/16 GB), but we have
to wait for the eventual launch to learn the actual memory combinations.
